In July 2014, Staffan de Mistura, a 68-year old Italian-Swedish diplomat, was enjoying a peaceful semi-retirement on the isle of Capri when he received a telephone call from his former boss, the United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, offering him what might be the world’s most difficult job. De Mistura had worked under Ban as the chief of the UN missions to Afghanistan and Iraq, and he was now being asked to take up a role as the UN’s special envoy for Syria – charged with finding a peaceful resolution to one of the bloodiest and most complex wars of our time.

Hosea 14

Hosea Chapter 14
א תֶּאְשַׁם, שֹׁמְרוֹן, כִּי מָרְתָה, בֵּאלֹהֶיהָ; בַּחֶרֶב יִפֹּלוּ–עֹלְלֵיהֶם יְרֻטָּשׁוּ, וְהָרִיּוֹתָיו יְבֻקָּעוּ. {פ} 1 Samaria shall bear her guilt, for she hath rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. {P}
2 Return, O Israel, unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast stumbled in thine iniquity.
3 Take with you words, and return unto the LORD; say unto Him: ‘Forgive all iniquity, and accept that which is good; so will we render for bullocks the offering of our lips.
4 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses; neither will we call any more the work of our hands our gods; for in Thee the fatherless findeth mercy.’
5 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for Mine anger is turned away from him.
6 I will be as the dew unto Israel; he shall blossom as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
7 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his fragrance as Lebanon.
8 They that dwell under his shadow shall again make corn to grow, and shall blossom as the vine; the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
9 Ephraim [shall say]: ‘What have I to do any more with idols?’ As for Me, I respond and look on him; I am like a leafy cypress-tree; from Me is thy fruit found.
י מִי חָכָם וְיָבֵן אֵלֶּה, נָבוֹן וְיֵדָעֵם: כִּי-יְשָׁרִים דַּרְכֵי יְהוָה, וְצַדִּקִים יֵלְכוּ בָם, וּפֹשְׁעִים, יִכָּשְׁלוּ בָם. {ש} 10 Whoso is wise, let him understand these things, whoso is prudent, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just do walk in them; but transgressors do stumble therein. {P}

Comment: This is very modern text:  E.g. Think Samarian to day-  how much good Iisrael   did plan to their ownPpalestinians for to integrate  them to a functional  prosperous modern state, but instead they  (  a   dominant part of them)  rebelled and  wanted to make  some kind of  lethal intifada and kill,l assasinate in darkness  and by   two-faced way ,  everywhere ,   Israelians of all ages- babies, children, youth, adults, aged ones-  They caused  Israel to response  defensively- All these happenings, the  responses of Israel,  now are still defensive strategy of Israel against all kind of local assassins. IF  it happens that Syrians  and Ppalestinians begin  to choos the wsay of peace in daily life-  surelys all the heavens , and the aighteous nations of Abraham  do ratify the peace.  The war of  Levant  is huge sore, a deadly sickness of the whole Globe. All the  Righteous Nations togethes are now  trying to make peace to Levant- but  the inhabitants of Levant have to like also   the normal  life on earth and not assasianations and  bloody war.

A UN plan for Syria is a “milestone” in the efforts to end the conflict there, says US Secretary of State John Kerry.

He said the plan gave Syrians a “real choice… between war and peace”.

The resolution, passed unanimously by the UN Security Council, sets out a timetable for formal talks and a unity government within six months,

Rosenfeld said all of the victims were treated at the scene by Magen David Adom and ZAKA paramedics before being rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Facility and Hadassah University Medical Center in Ein Kerem.

He said traffic was suspended in both directions for 90 minutes, as police cordoned off the area, which was flooded by an overturned fire hydrant, to investigate if the suspect acted alone or is part of a larger terrorist cell.

A search of the man’s badly damaged vehicle uncovered a metal hand ax with a green handle.

ZAKA volunteer Yossi Frankel said he was among the first responders after receiving an emergency call at 3 p.m.

“The terrorist ran his car into a bus stop, ramming a fire hydrant, which made it very difficult to work because of flooding,” said Frankel.

“I helped one male victim, who is between 30 and 40, who was conscious with light-to-moderate upper body wounds. A one-and-a-half-year-old baby was also seriously injured and taken to the hospital.”

Frankel said ZAKA volunteers transferred the terrorist’s body to an area police station for forensic analysis and testing.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the security forces and citizens who helped save lives, and prevent greater carnage.

“We are facing a new kind of terror, that of individuals,” he told his Likud faction.

“This presents a challenge, not only to us, but the entire world. I have no doubt we will overcome [the challenge].”
