62nd session of UNSCEAR

The 62nd session of UNSCEAR is scheduled to take place at the Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria, from 1 to 5 June 2015.
61st session of UNSCEAR

The 61st session of UNSCEAR took place at the Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria, from 21 to 25 July 2014. Carl-Magnus Larsson (Australia) was Chair, Yoshiharu Yonekura (Japan) Vice-Chair and Michael Waligórski Rapporteur for the session.

The Committee discussed matters arising from General Assembly resolution 68/73 including its programme of work. The Committee held technical discussions on three documents prepared by the secretariat:

  • Methodology for estimating human exposures due to radioactive discharges
  •  Radiation exposures from electricity generation
  • Biological effects of selected internal emitters (tritium and uranium)

Furthermore, the Committee considered progress reports on the following topics:

  • Epidemiology of low-dose-rate exposures of the public to natural and artificial environmental sources of radiation
  • Development of an evaluation of medical exposures
  • Outreach activities

UNSCEAR Surveys of Global Radiation Exposure

The secretariat of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) collects and analyses data on the global and regional levels and trends of human exposure to ionizing radiation.
